When was the last time you wore a tartan shirt and set out on the street? I for one don’t even remember wearing them at home, those were the days when they were out of vogue even for school kids. However all of the designers suddenly seem to have found a new spark with these Scottish patterns, they are the in thing. From the Matthew Williamson to the House of Holland and Dolce & Gabbana, all of them have endorsed the tartan designs in their latest collections.
The fall winter collection of Matthew Williamson brings back this trend only in subtle colours draping the models so it is easy to miss them there. But the bold purple tartan in the Passio Factionis of the House of Holland strikes out particularly and tempts even the platonic eye. Dolce and Gabbana steals the show, with their full range of designer wear depicted in this fashion with interplay of perfectly straight vertical and horizontal colours on the fabric.
It seems that the trends have come back and taken a full circle. The Scotts would not mind that their tradition has now found its place in the world modern fashion for good.
