Paris Fashion Week doesn't follow size ban

Paris Fashion Week started earlier this week without adhering to the ban imposed on skinny models.

Didier Grumbach, a leading official governing French fashion, clarified that the ban on models with a BMI less than 18 imposed in other fashion weeks will not be followed.

He said, ‘I think it’s a non-issue. You don’t solve public health problems by regulating the size of models. You know, fashion is only the reflection of what is happening in society. It is not the cause.’

He added that health problems are a concern of Health Ministry and not the fashion designers.

The skinny modes debate was started in Madrid Fashion Week last month when the Spainish Association of Fashion Designers agreed to the ban on models who fell below the recommended ‘healthy’ BMI limits.
