I understand the need for fashion designers to ‘invent’ new fashion since we seem to be very quickly running out of ‘inspirations’ from the past. But when Paris-based designer Rick Owens came up with the Thigh High Zipper Boots that are made to look like the bell bottoms of yesteryears, we could only watch awe-stricken wondering which model would be the first to fall flat on her face after having tripped on the boots’ hideous flares! Apparently Rick wanted to create the illusion of flared pants by using way too much extra leather that rouched or slouched over the boots with little bits sticking irritatingly near the soles. Dare I point out that if you managed to not trip on these on your own, you can always have someone else step on them for you! The unappealing design was a part his Fall collection (pun intended) for 2008 and was showed at the Paris Fashion Week.
