If we follow the words of designer Alber Elbaz, the theme of his latest collection for Lanvin at Paris Fashion Week is “real clothes for real woman”. I am too poor to interpret or go deep into this profound statement of the artist- who is a real woman and who is unreal? Anyway, I would like to call it “bold and smart clothes for the smart ladies with a taste for fashion.” The entire creation is poised towards naturalism. There is no fusion of varieties of materials and trends. Simple shiny clothes with minimal prints or some animal prints are all that we find here. Most of them are one-shoulder dresses with knee-length skirts. It’s a creativity based on reductionism- avoiding all those elements which are simply exaggeration in the name of high-fashion. I think this is fabulous and very soon we’ll see some of these on the red carpet.
