A couple that sits together stays together

For all you couples out there who are going a rough patch, this Danielle Sobik designer couch is just the thing you need. And you wont need to pay for having a heart-to-heart with your partner (read: couples’ counseling) or sit through brutal invasions of your private space at the hands of loved ones (your moms, sisters, friends, friendly neighborhood couples, dog-walker...)

You instantly identify with the modern and impersonal lifestyles that the aesthetics of the sofa represents. However, the sleek modern forms allied with a grey covering are deceptive. You realize that much more is going on when you take a minute to sit down.

The visual pattern displays a randomized pattern which forms depending on where a person is located on the sofa using light emitting (Electrolumiscent) technology in conjunction with trigger sensitive materials.

A cold blue pattern begins to grow around a couple as they sit apart on the sofa. The blue pattern signifies their distance apart from each other.

As the pattern change in relation to proximity, warm pink petals begin to form signifying their closeness as they move towards each other.

Thoughtful and playful patterns develop, surrounding the couple in warm pink petals and the occasional blue.

The pattern represents a visual translation of how we use a piece of furniture and the quiet little interactions that we have with each other which often go unnoticed.

This intuitive use of emerging technologies explores the patterns of how we live and share our space with others.

Try it out. You’ll never find yourself waiting for a warm, refreshing hug from your partner again.
